The end of Sabbath is commemorated over a cup of wine and a havdala candle. The havdala ritual separates day from night, and the secular from the holy. Portrayed is a woman in the shape of a havdala candle, breathing Aish, the fire of the candle. She is being separated from Ish, man, whose head is dolefully bent over the havdala wine cup mourning the passage of Sabbath. This mirrors the tense and incomplete separation of Eve from Adam. Day is on one side, and night on the other. Yin and Yang, separate yet dependent
